Michael's interest in the arts does not stop at painting, he is also a self-taught musician who has played in bands and who has wrote and performed his own songs. In 1997, Michael went back to his comic book roots, by publishing his own comic book. ARTIST STATEMENT
My biggest influence as a surrealist is Salvador Dali, as he is for many surrealist and on surrealism in general. If it weren't for Dali, I would probably not be painting now. Other influences are Rene Magritte and presently a French surrealist, Roland Heyder.
I think art should say something, it should make you wonder not just repeat what you can already see, surrealism does that. That is why I call it unreal realism.
